Replacing a light is different from adding a new connection. Describe the existing setup, the new fixture or device and any access limitations. The contractor reviews compatibility, the required work and any applicable permit requirements before regulated work starts. Who carries out regulated electrical work?
Regulated electrical work is performed by appropriately licensed electrical contractors in accordance with applicable British Columbia requirements. The scope and any permit requirements are reviewed before that work begins.
Can I supply my own light fixture or ceiling fan?
Yes, you can request installation of a fixture you have selected. Share the model and specifications before the visit so compatibility, support and access can be reviewed. Having a fixture on site does not by itself confirm that the existing location is suitable.
Can you replace a regular switch with a smart switch?
A smart-switch installation can be reviewed, but compatibility depends on the device and existing electrical setup. Send the product model and describe what the switch controls. The contractor confirms the required work before installation.
Does replacing a fixture require a permit?
Permit requirements depend on the actual electrical scope and applicable requirements. They are reviewed by the appropriately licensed contractor before regulated work starts. A booking description alone cannot establish whether a permit is required for your project.
What information helps plan an electrical appointment?
Provide the device model, location, existing connection information and any symptoms you have observed. Include photos taken without opening fittings, plus access details such as a high ceiling or restricted building hours. The request is reviewed before scheduling the work.
